Lead overlay glass in the kitchen of a lodge on Lopez Island. Lead overlay is a smart, yet economical way to add a touch of old world charm to modern windows. They are made as insulated (thermal pane) windows, but instead of building a true leaded window and enclosing it between two insulating panels, the lead is applied to both sides of the interior panel with 3M VHB Tape. This is the same tape the automotive industry uses to apply trim and name plates to the exterior of cars.
